Denby receives royal visit
People across the world love and use Denby products and recently a royal showed her interest in the items when she stopped off at the firm’s UK factory in Derbyshire. Princess Anne made a trip to Denby Pottery, where she was met by representatives of the firm and excited local school children, the Belper News reports.
The princess toured the company, taking a look at some of the fantastic pottery and other items it produces. She was commemorating 200 years of production at the original factory.
To greet Princess Anne, children from Denby Free CEVA Primary School were lined up, waving flags in celebration. Before the event, ten-year-old Abbie Hayward stated: “I’m looking forward to it. We only just found out about it last Thursday. It’s a nice day out.”
Meanwhile, classmate Cara Langford revealed that meeting a real-life royal was a dream come true for her. She enthused: “I have dreamed about seeing a princess my whole life! I can’t believe we’re actually here. I just like the Royal Family – they’re pretty.”
Among the older spectators was Terrence Piggott. The 83-year-old from Birmingham was part of a coach trip heading to Chesterfield. He and 30 other people were visiting the factory en route to their destination and they waited to see the royal.
There was also an American contingent in the crowd. Expatriate Erin Biggin, who moved over to the UK from Oklahoma a year ago, attended the celebration with her children Bo and Jude, aged three and one respectively.
She noted that the royals are popular in the US, stating: “All Americans are fans of the Royal Wedding.”
No doubt some of those visiting the Denby factory perused the selection of products on offer. Some may have taken the opportunity to stock up on pottery and other such items.
