Jonita Doda – Punjab di Kudi makes Bollywood her next destination
Jonita Doda is to Punjabi Cinema what Kareena Kapoor is to Bollywood. The actress belongs from the city where fashion flourishes – Chandigarh! Jonita has done two Punjabi films and has earned herself a great name in Punjabi Cinema.
‘Chak Jawana’ and ‘Yaara O’ Dildaara’ are the two famous Punjabi films the actress has done. Chak Jawana was her first film with evergreen actor Gurdas Mann, whereas ‘Yaara O’ Dildaara’ with Harbhajan Mann, Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal along with Kabir Bedi, was her second film which hit the theatres in September 2011 and is playing to houseful shows in India and abroad.
Born and brought-up in Chandigarh, Jonita relocated to Mumbai to pursue her interest in Bollywood. She has acted in several popular south films in Malyalam, Kannad and Tamil. She worked hard to get herself well-versed with the languages. Jonita said she’s completed shoot of two film ‘Makkal Padhai’ with Sathi Raj and ‘Adhikaram’. Talking about shooting in Tollywood, Jonita says, “I enjoyed shooting for both these films. It was an exciting experience since I picked up a little bit of Malayali and Kannad. My co-stars are great fun to work with. The south film industry is very professional and I have learnt a lot from it. I am now looking forward to make my debut in Bollywood.”
