Room Air Conditioners That Can Cool, Heat and Dehumidify
Room air conditioners are sold as both ‘unitary’ and ‘packaged terminal’ (PTAC) systems.
The most common single room air conditioner are the unitary systems. These systems are placed within a window or opening in a wall with the controls on the interior.
The air is cooled as a fan filters it through the evaporator, whilst on the exterior, the air is heated as a separate fan filters the air over the condenser. Ultimately, the heat is drawn from the room and expelled outside.
The PTAC systems are also known as wall split air conditioning systems or the more commonly used PTAC systems in hotels, they are made up of two separate units.
First, there is the evaporative unit on the interior and the condensing unit on the exterior. By way of tubing, which passes through the wall and connects them, each separately air conditioned room can be controlled independently.
