Even Thought It’s Business – It’s Important To LIKE Your Accredited Investors!
People seem to be cut right down the middle when it comes to this subject. Some people that are in need of raising capital could care less either way whether they like Ir dislike their business angels or accredited investors. Other people that need startup capital really want someone that they can work with that they actually like.
I agree with the second group of people. Chances are, you are going to be in “business” with these business angels or accredited investors for 2 to ten years depending on the agreements and how much venture capital you need and how quickly you pay it off. I think its important that you actually like and respect the people you work with.
It tends to bridge gaps and build foundations. It tends to make the business or company run smoother and both parties involved in the funding platform much happier. Before picking business angels, accredited investors or a specific funding platform, first make a list. Not a pro and con list, but an actual list of financiers.
This list should be with people you have met with or talked to. They have your passion, they understand your product or service. Work with people you can get along with and I think you will be pleasantly surprised at not only how easy it is to get the investment deal and start raising capital, but how well the business succeeds.
