Fact or fiction about health and fitness.

You’ve probably been the victim of rumors about something, these are no different with health and fitness. As you probably know myths begin when one person carries something they heard even if only partially heard on to a third person who then carries it to someone else. Maybe they even didn’t hear it right. But they innocently tell something they know, and another myth is born, again.

There is a very high likelihood that you will accept what you hear if the person you are hearing it from is in a position that makes them more likely to know for sure or one of power even. These “rumors” can be harmful especially if the person does not do the exercise correctly. We will talk about some of the worst fitness and health facts and rumors.

It has been said that if you use an ab machine or device and do crunches you will help to rid your body of the fat in your midsection. Plus, we have seen the late night infomercials that do seem to imply you can lose the belly fat with some whiz-bang ab blaster-dissolver-vaporizer thing. Belly fat is exactly what it implies, and that is a direct reflection on your percentage of body fat. To see your ab muscles you have to lose enough fat to make your abs visible.

You will find many attitudes regarding sweat and exercise. Most people believe that sweat is indicative of hard work and a good workout. Most also believe the flip side of that too. Sweat is your body’s way of cooling itself. There is in fact no correlation between sweat and physical exertion.

The interesting thing is you can burn up a ton of calories and never sweat! You’ll find a good walk can do the trick.

Sometimes you can hear people complaining that their body cannot get used to exercising at some particular time of day, or they are too tired at the end of the day. Your body does have a natural circadian cycle, which we have to call people on. If you tried working out in the morning, you may have noticed that your body was letting you know it is too early for that stuff. Your body will adjust to the change, but you have to allow it about 3-4 weeks. Then it will feel totally natural. The point is that once you break through your resistance and exercise after work, your body will have more energy to actually do it.

Everyone has some advice about health and fitness and some of it is truth and some of it is something else. The best thing to do when you hear something doubtful you need to research it to find some credible information to support or refute it.
