You should try scuba diving while visiting Australia

I’m stuck here in Cairns Australia and what else to do here than scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef? I guess as long as I’m next to the worlds largests living thing I might as well experience a tiny section of it up close. The day I got here I organised a three day scuba diving tour which includes 11 dives (2 of which were after dark) , with all meals included. The company was named Pro Dive.
We left for the great barrier reef two days later. The vessel was large and spacious and I even got my own ensuite cabin, which was perfect for changing after every dive. The truth is that it was pretty crazy. The order of the day was – rise at 6:30 and dive , have breakfast , scuba , have lunch , scuba , have cake , dive some more , have dinner , dive , beddy byes. Life was reduced to that of a gold fish , just swimming and eating which was exactly what I was looking for. I am now of the school of thought that sea sickness pills are more important than birth control tablets in the great scheme of things. People have been having babies since the dawn of time but only recently have people been spending time on a floating , motor driven boat in the great oceans of the planet. In other words , thank the god of the sea I packed seasick tablets because the sea was exceedingly rough and they were my only survival gear.
The dives were great and the things I saw were pretty spectacular. I saw everything from giant grouper to maori wrasse and lots of colourful coral and interesting fish just swimming all around you. Since the famous film ‘Finding Nemo’ the fish of the reef have adopted new names. When you get back from a dive you sighted Nemo as opposed to a Clownfish. Blowing bubbles though is amazing , it’s an alien world undeer the surface and being weightless is a strange experience. Now I can definately state that I feel confident under the water , equalizing my ears is a snap so I know that I am ready to continue diving in other destinations.
The staff were really fun and interesting as well. We had briefings prior to each dive and afterwards we all complied our log books with the details of the dives. Also , the food was the best I’ve eaten so far in Australia. On the Menu was cous-cous and Mexican food , and good bread and fresh fruit. It was definitely value for money , that’s not a lie. I think that if you don’t experience diving when you visit Cairns it’s like seeing Paris and not seeing the Eifel Tower It’s a must seein other words.
