History of Omega Watches

The company of Omega watches was found by a man named Louis Brandt in 1848 in the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland. Omega has that name because when referred to the Greek alphabet Omega means achievement and perfection. This is what the company has produced in every single Omega watch; they have lived up to their name magnificently. They continue to produce nothing less than the finest quality in watches. Not only are their watches made with pride and precision, but they look great, too. These watches are available in many different shapes, sizes, colors and styles, for men and women. Omega has also won many awards over past 150 years.

In the year of 1848, when Louis Brandt was 23 years old he opened a sales office for the purpose of manufacturing watches. The brothers Louis and César Brandt established a watch production unit when they leased a floor of a building to get their business started. They have produced many watches in their time.

Just four years after the Labrador lever movement was introduced in 1885, Fils and Louis Brandt later develop into the biggest manufactures of wristwatches in the whole of Switzerland. By that time their production rate was more than 100,000 watches. Omega started out with a goal to produce splendid watches and that will continue until the watches are no more.

The Omega Speedmaster was designed in the year of 1957 and after thorough evaluation NASA determined that they wanted to exploit the watch. They made the Speedmaster Professional their official timepiece in 1965.

Omega has also has its fair share of fame; astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon was wearing an Omega watch when he took the steps to fame. Omega got their 100,000th ranking certificate for the quartz chronometers in May 1983. In the same year, during the month of December a museum for Omega was opened.

New designs for Omega watches are being introduced all the time, and they seem to be getting more and more glorious as time passes. Many people have Omega watches and they will keep on selling because they are made using only the finest materials and the greatest accuracy. A lot of time goes into making every individual watch and this is the reason for the Omega Company being respected to the highest degree possible.
