Review Of The Kenwood Chef Classic Mixer
The Kenwood KM336 Classic is perhaps the Chef version that most will be familiar with.Perhaps you are fairly new to cooking and want to see if all you’ve heard about the advantages of food mixers is correct, or perhaps you grew up with one of these Classic mixers at home. Whatever the reason, most find that the Chef Classic is the best place to start. Does it really deliver on expectations?
The design of the Kenwood Chef Classic is unpretentious and effective. It’s testament to the quality of the concept that it has stood the test of time. Far more convenient to use than a hand mixer, particularly for larger quantities, it will make light work of the most tedious kitchen tasks.Beating together cake mixes, or kneading bread dough are no problem. Whisking cream or egg-whites to the ideal consistency is easy.
You may get more power with the more expensive models in the range, but in all honesty the 800 watt motor of the Classic is plenty for most domestic tasks . So much so that those who have used the machine say that the 2 kg capacity of bread dough can be effortlessly handled. The motor speed is adjustable of course and the controls are straightforward and easy to use. A pulse mode provides an extra burst of power when needed. But it ought to be said that the motor itself is not the quietest on the market.
The bowl is made of coated aluminium, making it light and easily cleaned. The 4.6 litre capacity is enough for 12 egg whites or 2.7 kg of cake mix. A splashguard lets you add ingredients to the mix without stopping. The planetary action ensures that mixing is thorough.
The tools supplied include a general-purpose K beater, whisk and dough hook. The tools are readily changed – the mixer head tips back and then locks back positively in place afterwards, so preventing the head lifting. This is a feature not shared by some other makers.
The mixer comes supplied with a 1.5 litre blender attachment. It just sits on top of the unit – great for a quick smoothie. There is a large range of other attachment you could add – mincer, pasta roller, juicer, icecream maker or spice mill for example.
The Kenwood KM336 Chef Classic has a 12 month warranty for total peace-of-mind.Kenwood hold a well-deserved status for quality kitchen tools and appliances.
The Classic mixer has been part of the series for years and looks set to continue. It’s built to last, and is well priced too. A sound buy I think.
