Going To The Cinema Or Waiting For DVDs
The Cinema
Advantages:
Cinemas has many great benefits – a massive screen, great surround sound, and if filled with the right type of people – a fantastic atmosphere that improves the movie, and really adds to the mood.
Disadvantages:
Unfortunately the disadvantages of the cinema far outweigh the benefits. The price of seeing a movie is verging on extortion – with a typical family of 4 paying over ?40 to see a film. The price of drinks and snacks is also extremely unfair. The reason so many sneak in their own food, is that the same bottle of pop may cost ?1 in the local supermarket, but over ?4 in the cinema.
The screen room itself is designed to fit as many people in as possible, not for comfort. Designs have improved with a tired seating system, insuring you always have a clear view of the screen, but the width and comfort of the chairs is lacking.
A real problem right now, is the lack of respect of other movie goers – many are there to watch the film and have a good time, but occasionally individuals will continue to shout, use their mobile phones, and disrupt the movie for others – with no consequences, and no chance of a refund for the people trying to watch the film.
DVDs / Blu-rays / Home viewing.
Advantages:
Many people now have great TV setups, large LCD screens, and surround sound, with their own comfortable sofa. Snacks from a local store, also saves large amounts money. The screen may not be as big – but the picture quality offered by HD insures you see all the detail and feel immerged in he story.
Disadvantages:
Apart from having to wait to see the latest releases, and the lack of an atmosphere from a large audience, there are no real disadvantages. Home viewing is cheaper, allows greater options, and is best way to watch a movie in this day and age.
