CSA 2010 – a great initiative to protect the environment
There are very few people in the world who do not know about hazardous materials and the amount of damage that they can cause if not handled properly. Various organizations all over the world are striving to implement various rules and regulations so that the environment is protected from the various hazards that might leads to disasters and damages on large scale. One such initiative is the implementation of CSA 2010. The full form of CSA 2010 is Compliance, Safety and Accountability and is mainly related to hazardous materials transportation from one place to another. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is the main organization that is responsible for implementing this rule. Along with this, FSOs are also there to ensure that no disaster is caused while moving dangerous goods from one place to another. FSO is the shortened form of Facility Security Officers.
Majority of the accidents that are caused by hazardous materials happen at the time of their transportation. CSA 2010 rules are implemented for the same purpose. It is a very interesting thing to know that we are surrounded by hazardous materials, but since they are in compound forms, they are not harmful in those conditions. However, when individually the hazardous materials come in contact with the atmosphere or other agents, they might cause disasters and great damages. FSOs ensure safe transportation of hazardous materials from one place to the other easily. According to the various rules of CSA 2010, there are specialized vehicles that are there for carriage of dangerous goods. And all these vehicles carry at least one FSO while carrying dangerous goods so that they can combat the disaster if anything happens on the way. Overall protection of dangerous goods is ensured by CSA 2010 as well as by the FSOs.
With the alarming rate of increase in pollution, the governments of various countries are bringing out several rules and regulations to combat this problem. CSA 2010 is the rule that is strictly followed in USA and on not following the guidelines, strict penalties are also due. For enhanced protection FSOs are appointed so that they can control disaster situations and reduce the amount of damage that might be caused from the hazardous materials accidentally. FSOs are adequately trained professionals, who have a thorough knowledge about the various kinds of dangerous goods and can handle them in the best possible manner in case of a disaster situation
