Charlotte Country Day School is a privately-owned school based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The school has a secular outlook and the admission applications is not based on religion, race, color or any ethnic origin but on the intellectual capability and the area of interests of the students. It offers education from kindergarten upto class- 12. The Charlotte Country Day School is a one of the prominent educational institutions of the Carolinas and has been an IB (International Baccalaureate) World School since August 1992. The school supports the Green revolution and has undertaken many activities like becoming a member of Green Schools Alliance, lowering electrical consumption by 10.6%, establishing Environmental Steward Committee, forming students Environmental Clubs etc. for its promotion. The school boasts of a famous alumni comprising of Ed Cash (Grammy nominated singer), Mike Kofer (American footballer) and many others.
Charlotte Country Day has two campuses covering a combined area of 113 acres. The lower and the upper schools are located in the Cannon Campus which has 15 buildings and has numerous facilities including dining hall, libraries, reading gardens, computer labs, a fine arts and athletic center. The middle school attends classes at the Bissell Campus which has eight science lecture rooms, two general classrooms, six foreign language classes, a gymnasium, playground, locker rooms and cafeteria. The school gives great emphasis on academics. In the lower school (KG-4) there are 2 teachers for 20-24 students and they follow an inquiry based system for teaching. In the middle school (5-8) the students are taught many subjects and foreign languages. The high school (9-12) follows a credit based system where each student has to earn 8 credits in total.
Xavier Thoma attended the Charlotte Country Day School from 1980 to 1990 to pursue his primary and early secondary education. Later in 1990, when his parents moved to France, he enrolled at the American School Of Paris to complete his secondary education. Thereafter, he matriculated at Oxford University (Hertford College) to pursue his Masters degree (M.Eng) in Engineering, Economics and Management. Xavier is an extensively experienced professional, who started his careeras an corporate finance analyst in 1996 with JP Morgan & Co. Ltd. Presently, Xavier Thoma is pursuing opportunities in the real estate sector, focusing on acquiring and developing properties.
