Do you suffer from Sleep Apena

If you suffer from disturbed sleep it’s possible that the sleep apena is the cause, sleep apnea pronounced (AP-ne-ah) is a common disorder in which the breathing pauses or becomes very shallow through the night.

These breathing pauses can last from a few seconds to minutes. In severe cases these stoppages can throughout the night. Once normal breathing starts again, it is often announced by a noisy grunt or breathless noise.

For sufferers sleep apnea can be a tenacious, ongoing complaint that disrupts sleep patterns over months or years. The effect is to move out of deep sleep and into a shallow sleep when the apnea is triggered and the breathing pauses or becomes shallow. This often results in sleeplessness, broken sleep patterns or poor sleep quality that causes exhaustion during the day. Sleep apnea is one of the leading causes of daytime lethargy.

Conquer sleep apnea

The vast majority of those who have sleep apnea don’t even reasile it because it only occurs during sleep. Because doctors can have trouble detecting the condition, sleep apena is often missed; this is compounded as there are no effective tests for the problems.

Typically, a spouse or bed partner is usually the first person to notice the signs of sleep apnea. Sleep apena is the most common form of the problem – where the airway has collapsed or is blocked during sleep. It is this restriction or blockage could cause shallow breathing or breathing is interrupted.

During apnea when breathing, the air compresses past the blockage which can begin loud snoring. Although it could affect anyone, those who weigh more tend to find that obstructive sleep apnea is more likely to be an issue. For younger people it’s possible that they may have enlarged tonsil tissues, which can lead to obstructive sleep apnea.

Central sleep apnea, whilst less common has similar symptoms. Where obstructive sleep apnea is a physical dilemma, central sleep apnea tends to be more psychological. The section of the brain that regulates breathing stops sending the correct signals to the muscles that control breathing. As a result, there is no brain stimulus to breathe.

Central sleep apnea could afflict anyone. But, it’s more likely in those with certain medical conditions or use certain medicines. Whilst they often occur together if there is an absence of snoring then it is more likely that central sleep apena is the probable cause.

What to look out for

Obstructive sleep apnea could be a signal for other physical problems, for example; an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, obesity, diabetes or heart failure.
