Amazingly, that stretchy fabric still provides entirely excellent wind and water protection. This isn’t a thermal vest: it’s just one thin layer, but for keeping wind out that’s all you need. It easily adds 10˚ to any garment setup. I still haven’t found a way to keep my feet super warm on the coldest days, so that seems to be the place to spend money for me at least
Don’t let the refrain “We hardly experience winter in Hyderabad. You can make do with a shawl …” dampen your enthusiasm. Agreed that winter nights in Hyderabad aren’t as chilly as in Delhi and we don’t need fur to ward off the chill, but if you are attending an open-air concert or a play in the outskirts of the city on a nippy evening, you can make do with some warm clothing. You can either hide under an oversized jacket or an outdated sweater or step out in style with some planning.
This is the best time of the year to indulge in knitwear. Reach out for structured jackets, tunics, scarves and stoles in flat knits. Lifestyle brands, not known to let go of any marketing opportunity, have flooded retail stores with all things warm and woolly, in both ethic and western wear. Bring on the layers, for both casual and work wear in structured silhouettes.
