Portable Garages and Weather
One of the best things about portable garages is that they can hide your car from the weather and this is something that makes them highly valuable. Using portable garages you can keep your car warmer and protect it from rain, snow, hail and everything else. If you think that these are minor points then you probably haven’t considered all of the effects that something like rain or ice can have on your car. Here we will look at the damage that weather can do to your car, and why using instant shelters is a good idea.
Rain: Rain is not a serious problem for your car compared to say hail, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have any effect at all. Rain water is often dirty, highly acidic and it doesn’t get cleaned off quickly. This then means that leaving your car’s nice paint job in the rain is a quick way to damage it and make it look rusty and dingy. If nothing else rain leaves water marks on your windows unless you have car shelter.
Cold: The cold is very bad for various aspects of your car. Most notably it can drain your battery which means you might well get into your car and find it doesn’t start. One of the big benefits of portable garages then is the fact that they keep your car warm and that is something you shouldn’t underestimate. At the same time cold will make your car slow to start which might make you late in the mornings.
Ice: Worse than a little cold is sub zero temperatures which might cause your car to freeze over. This can mean that your windows and door freeze over meaning you can’t get out of your car and can’t even see in or out. This is again something that will slow you right down in the morning when you are planning on going to work and can make you late. At the same time it can be dangerous and cause you to slip while you are working on getting it started.
Hail: This is the serious one and one of the best reasons to get a portable garage. Hail can not only chip your autoglass, but also ruin paint jobs and cause ugly dents in your car’s body work. If it hails then your car is going to get pummeled unless you have some form of portable garage, so this is something you should consider early on.
Snow: Snow is not going to damage your car quite as much directly but that’s not to say it can’t cause problems – for instance hemming your car in and making it impossible to dig out. With portable garages you’ll still need to clear a path down the drive, but at least you won’t be digging your car out with a shovel as well.
As well as protecting you from weather portable garages also protect your car from a range of other environmental hazards including stones and pebbles kicked up from the road by passing cars, dew from trees and even bird manure.
