How to Learn RC Flying
RC Flying is an exciting hobby for adults and for children, as well. RC planes can be toy items or hobby items that are controlled by radio signals. Learning how to fly a radio controlled plane is not as easy as learning how to drive an RC car. It can be real frustrating especially when crashes occur and cause damage to your plane. So, before attempting to learn to fly a plane, you must first understand how a radio controlled plane works. It is called radio controlled because radio signals control it, by a frequency coming from the transmitter that you’re holding and passes through the air to the receiver that is on the plane.
There’s a tool that you should buy and hook up to your computer that will help you learn how to control the movements of your RC plane – from taking off, to maneuvering and up to landing. This tool is called the simulator. While you cannot substitute this tool to actual RC flying, this is a great training tool that will teach you the basics of flying a radio controlled plane.
Checking the balance of your RC plane can help your aircraft to function properly. If you notice that the plane veers in the direction, which is not what you intended it to take, it is a signal that the weight of the plane is not balanced. A balanced plane stays flat and its nose will be pointed slightly downward. To make sure that the controls are working as they should, do a pre-flight glide. This ensures that you can glide the plane down in case of a motor problem. Launch your plane on a flat surface or the “runway”.
RC flying should be done on days where there is no or very little wind. Strong wind cannot be your friend when you fly your RC plane. The wind can make your aircraft hard to control, thus increasing the risk of plane crashes and damages. When you make a landing, it should be performed with the plane coming against the wind and by lowering the motor power. If, for any reason, you need to abandon the landing, you should be prepared to put back the power to full throttle.
To learn RC flying quickly and effectively, you should consider learning from an instructor. You can join a hobby club where you can get lessons. It will take a lot of time and practice, be patient while you’re still learning. Practice as much as possible, using the knowledge you learned from the simulators and flight instructors. When a crash happens, don’t be discouraged and stop your hobby. Crashes always happen, for some reason, even if you are already a seasoned flyer.
Once you have learned how to fly a radio controlled plane, you are ready to buy your own aircraft. Get advice from professional hobbyists to make sure that what you are buying is the plane that fits your needs. You can learn a lot from hobby shops and RC plane clubs with regards to buying a radio controlled aircraft or in fact about RC Helicopter, RC Aircraft, RC Jets also.
