Landscape gardening is not a thing of the past
It is all too tempting to offer a quaint, somehow olde-worlde view of landscape gardening when we think about that term today. If you cast your mind over the landscaping of a large area you might think of the Palace of Versailles, where Louis XIV of France had extensive work done to create beautiful grounds to impress foreign dignitaries. Perhaps you would think of Capability Brown, the first British superstar of landscape gardening, and his work at Chatsworth, Petworth et al.
Obviously these are beautiful gardens, and though they sprung up in the golden age of landscape gardening, we still get great enjoyment out of them today. At the time the gardens served an important function for their owners, as well as looking spectacular, and the demand for landscape architecture has not diminished over time, as there is still a need for the kind of peaceful, tranquil atmosphere a garden can offer in modern industrial Britain.
If you need proof of this fact, you need only turn on your television set and you can view a number of channels dedicated to the subject, as well as prime time programmes on major television networks, that not only show you how to tend your little patch behind your house, but also show the overhaul of large public and private properties. It is difficult to measure, but maybe Alan Titchmarsh is every bit the star that Capability Brown was in his day.
What it is important to remember when we consider landscape gardening, is that there is a great deal of money involved in the industry today. International corporations are forking over huge sums of cash to landscape gardening companies to ensure their own premises are looking spectacular, and impress potential clients. The days of building new manor houses to show your status are long gone; the very rich already have gardens from the golden age of Capability Brown, and there is no reason for them to ruin it with a new attempt and waste their money. The demand for landscaping is mainly on a corporate level, as stated before, and there is enough demand to keep gardening companies very busy indeed.
Britain is steadily losing its greenery, especially in the industrial cities such as London, and companies are growing more towards the natural world. With the recent focus on being environmentally friendly, corporations are eager to present their nature loving sides. Striking grounds for your office are a status symbol, and they show your company is not living in the dark industrial past of Victorian Britain.
It is important that facilities management companies take all of your premises into account when performing your property management services, including your grounds. It is important that your facility is attractive to ensure a good working atmosphere and to attract potential clients.
