Novatel USB727 Modem
The Novatel USB727 modem, known as the U727 on the Sprint network, is the answer to customer problems with the USB727. This modem, though still large in comparison to others, is an inch shorter and half an inch narrower than the older USB727 . There are added functions to the Novatel USB727 modem as well. For instance, it has an added microSD slot for 4gigs worth of memory. Additionally, there is even a flip top antenna for better reception. This modem does not need to be used in a hotspot.
Speed was not lost in the Novatel USB727 when added features were put on. The speeds are 600kbps to 1.4Mbps. The upload time is a little trickier to figure out with different speeds put out by the two different carriers. Sprint claims the uplink speeds are 350 to 500 kbps, where Verizon claims the speeds are 500 to 800 kbps. This modem also has out-of-the-box support systems, making it easy to use.
The Novatel USB727 can be purchased now for $100 and a two year contract from Verizon. Sprint offers the same modem, called the U727 for $80 plus a two year contract. Could that be the difference in speeds?
