Custom-made Shirts-T Shirt Printing On Your Own
T shirt printing for a lot of people is a difficult task. This isn’t true. In fact, school kids can do this in their classrooms one hour and come out with their custom t shirts after the class is over. All it takes is to think about a design and gather all the materials needed for the project.
You will require an embroidery hoop or rectangular frame for the supplies. Make sure to check if the design size will fit into the chosen frame. You can get such things from the craft stores and they can be really affordable. Next, is to find a cloth material such as a chiffon cloth or maybe a silk screen. However, selecting tulle will not be a good decision since the holes of this kind of cloth are large enough to cause design smearing. See to it that you choose a cloth material with extremely tiny holes so the paint can flow through easily.
You can choose different types of paints; latex can be used but they are rather washable. Look for cloth paint which are permanent. You can find many different colors and textures available. Then you would need a rubber scraper to get that paint through the screen and onto the t shirt. This tool can spread a thin layer of paint so it could easily dry up and stick to the cloth. If there’s no rubber scraper, the paint can be uneven and drying wouldn’t result to a great design transfer.
As for the design, you need to draw or have it printed onto a paper. For the newbies, start with 1 or 2 colors first. As you become more experienced in t shirt printing, you may choose whatever designs you want which can have several colors. Place a stencil over your design and cut it based on the size of your frame. If your design has two colors you may need to have 2 frames as well-one for each color.
Cut out your stencil designs carefully and make sure the 2nd color parts are left off. For the other color design, cut only the part which has the second color and leave alone the other color design. Then place newspapers inside your t shirt. Lay them flat on a surface and have the shirt positioned and taped so when doing the t shirt printing, the shirt won’t move around. Carefully position the newspapers inside to ensure that it won’t contribute wrinkles to the shirt surface. Now, place the stencil over the region you want the design to be printed on and carefully place the framed screen above it. With only a small amount of paint, run the paint with the scraper in just one motion. Do this once more. Slowly lift the stencil and the screen off. Allow shirt to dry. That is it!
