A charming cottage holiday in Yorkshire
Overlooking the village green, in a peaceful corner, this 200 year old stone cottage is a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Redmire is a traditional Dales village with friendly village shop and post office only a 5 minute walk from the cottage. The village also has The Bolton Arms, a real ale inn serving home made food in the restaurant only a short walk across the village green.
There are delightful walks from the door along Wensleydale. A one mile walk across meadows and stiles to the magnificent 14th Century Bolton Castle (as featured on The Dales TV series) where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned. A four mile walk will take you to the impressive Aysgarth Falls where Robin Hood fought Little John in the film ‘Prince of Thieves’. Take a nostalgic train ride from Redmire on the famous Wensleydale Railway to the market town of Leyburn and walk the 5 miles back along the famous ‘shawl’ walk with spectacular views of Wensleydale.
Redmire is also an ideal base for touring the Yorkshire Dales National Park or visiting Hawes the home of Wallace & Gromit’s favourite Wensleydale Cheese. Richmond, Harrogate and York are all within easy reach and don’t miss the chance to enter the labyrinths and secret chambers of The Forbidden Corner!
Golf, horse riding and fishing available nearby.
