Chetan Bhagat, the Best Selling Novelist

We would have lost a great writer if Chetan Bhagat had chosen to stay on in Hong Kong and continue to work as an investment banker. Five Point Someone – What not to do at IIT!

The title says it all. Set in the Indian Institute of technology, Delhi during the period from 1991 to 1995, it narrates the story of three mechanical engineering students Hari Kumar, Ryan Oberoi and Alok Gupta. Three of them being great friends try to break the conventions of the IIT system and thereby earn the ire of Professor Cherian, the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department. Through this novel, Chetan Bhagat brings out the dark side of the education system where grades and success are valued more than creativity, innovation, talent and excellence. This novel became hugely popular and was adapted into two films and they are 3 Idiots in Hindi and Nanban in Tamil.

One Night @ the Call Center

It narrates the story of 6 call center employees Shyam, Priyanka, Esha, Vroom, Radhika and Military Uncle who are upset with some aspects of their lives but do not know how to improve it. But one night in unexpected circumstances, they get a call from God who provides them advices on improving their lives. The rest of the story is what each of them does to change their lives for good. It was also adapted to a Hindi picture titled Hello.

The 3 Mistakes of My Life

Set in the years 2000-2005, it narrates the story of three friends Govind, Ishaan and Omi. The story is about the three mistakes done by Govind, the narrator as well as the central character of the novel.

2 States: The Story of My Marriage

The story of this novel is inspired from the life of the author. It narrates the story of a couple belonging to two different states in India and their efforts to convince their parents to their marriage.
