Volvo has truck business concept wrapped up
To say the least, the European market for trucks in the 12-26 tonne class is characterised by really tough conditions. Demand is relatively constant and the competition is fierce. So as Volvo Trucks now launches an entirely new business concept in Europe encompassing both trucks and services for customers in areas such as distribution, refuse collection, light construction duties and municipal transportation, it does so with a clear message to the world: Volvo is investing ‘ and investing heavily ‘ in growth within these segments.
The heart of Volvo’s offering consists of two entirely new trucks, the Volvo FL and Volvo FE. The Volvo FL is intended for the 12-18 tonne segment, while the Volvo FE is designed for heavier applications at 18 or 26 tonnes.
Both trucks can be individually tailored for a variety of local and regional transport requirements. In order to make it easier for the customer to choose the most appropriate options and also to cut lead times from placing the order to taking delivery of the new truck, Volvo has put together a number of ready-made recommendation packages for various applications.
For example, companies that want a fully-built, urban truck with a short delivery time can purchase a CitiPro. This is a factory-built, fully equipped 12-tonne Volvo FL distribution truck with a van body and cantilever tail lift, ready for work from the actual day of delivery to the customer. Business sales made easy.
“High reliability and quick access to service are immensely important,” explains Roar Isaksen. “Many customers demand that it should be possible to get to the workshop within 40 minutes and that they should be able to receive help immediately.”
In order to meet the demand for simple ownership, fast service and high vehicle availability, the services form as important a part of the Volvo business concept as the trucks themselves do. Via Volvo’s 1,100 dealers and workshops throughout Europe, the launch of a pan-European service offering specially developed for companies involved in local and regional transportation is taking shape for managers looking for ease in their business sales.
