Watch 720p, 1080p MKV files on Galaxy Nexus
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone running Android version 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, the very latest edition of Google’s robot-riddled operating system. One part of hardware the Galaxy Nexus does boast that outdoes its rivals is its display. This is a 720×1,280 pixel screen, making the Galaxy Nexus a proper HD phone. With a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, we’re really eager to get a look at this panel, and see how it handles our mo vies and hundreds of photos of cats.
“Hi,
Does anyone know if the phone natively plays mkv files? I tried a couple and it didn’t work. I am wondering if it was the files I tried or the phone itself? If the native player cannot play them, does anyone know if there is an alternative player that can?
Thanks in advance”

The native player does play MKV files, but note that MKV is just a container format which can contain various codecs, only a small subset of which the Samsung Galaxy Nexus can play.
