What truck size to order for moving
What truck size should you ask the movers to execute your move?
What truck size should you order for your upcoming move? 1 ton or 5 ton truck, maybe you are even considering a cargo van for very small moves? Need to consolidate your shipment for long distance moving services in a semi trailer? Choosing the right truck size can in some cases reduce the final cost of your move.
1 ton moving truck
Deciding on what moving truck size to choose will depend on more than simply the amount of furniture you have. The distance and the time frame you have available will also make a difference. But here are some general guidelines to help you help us choose the proper moving truck size for your movers to serve you. 1-2 bedroom apartments usually require a 1 ton truck as long as the distance from point A to point B is not to great, 1-5 kilometers on average.
5 ton moving truck
This is the largest truck size available for local moves (short of tractor trailers better suited for Long Distance moving companies) This truck size is for larger than 2 bedroom suites or longer distance moves. Even if the truck is not filled to the maximum this is sometimes the best option to save on traveling time, especially if the difference between the original and destination address is more than 15 km. Sometimes a 5 ton truck is appropriate for moves in suburbs and out of your metropolitan area.
Cargo Van
This is very rarely the right option but sometimes it could work for very, very small moves. 1-5 items, but remember that if you have more than you are supposed to have and it doesn’t fit it will wind up costing more! One way to make a small move work out in a cargo van is to buy some professional moving boxes, they will allow you to pack more stuff in a small place.
This article is written mostly for hiring Vancouver Movers or Canadian Moving Companies but the advice remains the same for other moving companies across North America.
