Herrera was born in Caracas, Venezuela, a daughter of Guillermo Pacanins Acevedo, an air-force officer who later became Governor of Caracas, and his wife, the former María Cristina Niño Passios. During the 1970s, she was recognized as one of the most stylish women in the world. In 1981 she moved with her family from Caracas to New York. Venezuelan origin American designer Carolina Herrera has founded her fashion house in 1980. Chic, sophisticated fashion designer achieved instant success. The success of the perfume was so extensive, that allowed the finance and the creation of fashion collections. She launched several successful fragrances for men and women for many years. Carolina Herrera company expanded its offer with the CH Carolina Herrera lifestyle brand in 2008, which includes accessories and home furnishings in addition to fashion, as well as a new series of fragrances for men and women under the name CH. She has also been named the designer of fictional character Bella Swan’s wedding dress for teen movi*e The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 1. Herrera won the “Womenswear Designer of the Year” in 2004 and the “Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2008—both from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which directs her signature Carolina Herrera fashion and bridal collections, her slightly lower priced lifestyle collection CH Carolina Herrera, and ten fragrances.
