Facebook Marketing 101
Create a “fan page” or a “business page.” Try to make it engaging and interesting. Keep it as up to date as you can. Stay as close to your business specialty as possible, with a tight focus on your products and services. It’s best to keep your posts and tagline informative but compact. A great way to keep your visitors attention is to ask them questions or put up a poll. Their answers will become an active part of your plan, and will give you feed back who your target prospect is, and what they are looking for.
Facebook is classified as a “social media site;” so it’s important to “social” first, and the “aggressive” business person last. Dumping promos, special offers, and heavy advertising scripts on your visitors, is probably not a good idea. Be a “friend” first . . . informative and interactive . . . before you start introducing them to your offerings. Friendships grow loyalty and patronage. Make it fun for everyone!
There always comes a time to conduct some creative business and try new and different marketing strategies. Over time, you’ll have attracted a good number of visitors throughout every day, and with the exponential number of new Facebook users signing up, your followership will grow larger. Include them in your fun; invite them to participate in their selection of a new logo, or product. It’s human nature; everyone loves to give their opinion. This is a chance for them to begin to “own” your page.
When you first begin, you’ll probably find placing ads to be the greatest source of expense. A Facebook “fan page” or “business page” is free, but ad cost start around $20.00 with “unlimited” being a possibility. You can choose either an “impression” ad (CPM) or a “pay per click” ad (CPC), during various days, and times of day. You may want to investigate what others’ ad strategies and results have been in the past.
Regardless of any other advertising media; local newspaper, flyers, signs, etc., you’ll find Facebook ads are not only cost efficient, but they produce immediate result far and away superior to most other media offerings. Internet marketing is the cutting edge for the future of advertising. Facebook ads are quickly becoming the universal choice. Plus it’s in your immediate control; it’s fun and extremely cost effective.
