Ayurveda is recognized as a science of life. Ayurveda suggests that a proper balance should be struck between our body, soul, mind and the environment. When this balance gets disturbed, we fall prey to various ailments. Ayurvedic treatment is a holistic approach of healing which tries to correct this imbalance. An Ayurveda spa offers a variety of ayurvedic treatments. There are mainly two categories of ayurvedic spas. The first category of spas provides serious ayurveda treatments, where different kinds of aliments are treated. The second category is rather similar to the regular spas and their services include whole body purification and rejuvenation. Ayurvedic therapies include panchakarma and rejuvenation and are incorporated in almost all ayurveda spa programs.
In ayurveda, it is believed that the body needs to be cleansed before starting any therapy. Therefore, a pre- purification process is incorporated which is called as panchakarma. It is basically a prelude to any ayuvedic therapy. Panchakarma, as the name suggests, is a club of five kinds of therapeutic measures to flush out the toxins from the body. These toxins get accumulated in the body as a result of an imbalance in “Tridoshas”; i.e, “vata”, “pitta” and “kapha”.
There are five different therapies that come under panchkarma. The first one is therapeutic vomiting which is called as “vamana”. It is a kind of emesis therapy used to clear the excess mucus or “Kapaha” from the lungs. It is very useful ion curing chronic cough and cold, asthma, sinus, allergies, tonsillitis and various other ailments. The second one is Laxation therapy which is carried out to reduce excess “pitta”. It is very useful in treating gastro intestinal problems, skin irritations and inflammations etc. “Basti” or enema therapy is used to eliminate the toxins of Vata, Kapha and Pitta. It is very effective in curing obesity, fever, constipation and other stomach problems. Nasya is a nose cleaning therapy to remove excess cough from nose, head, throat and sinus. It helps in treating migraine, insomnia and headaches. Rakta mokshasana therapy includes bloodletting, which is used to cure blood disorders by flushing out toxins from the blood. Thus all kinds of skin disorders get cured.
Panchakarma therapies are available in any good ayurvedic spa. One should benefit from all these therapies in order to maintain a healthy living.
