Visit California

Nicknames for banners and flags hoisted on a country or state flag pole is not uncommon. Flags representing states and countries will become important representations. For example, California’s state flag is often called the “Bear Flag.” The reason this state standard is called such is because a bear is featured in the middle or center.

Some weeks ago, I traveled through KLAX or the international airport of Los Angeles, to Salt Lake City. Since two weeks ago was early January that is, and the CA weather was really enjoyable to say the least. The state of California is located on the east coast of the USA. Many are under the impression that Los Angeles is the capital city of this beautiful, but it is not. The capital city is in fact Sacramento.

A gentleman related distantly related to Abraham Lincoln in fact designed the very first “bear flag.” The 1826 CA Lone Star supposedly inspired the use of the red five-pointed star on the CA flag. The current flag of the Governor is very different in design. The governor’s flag features the state seal, which is centered on a dark blue colored field. It can be seen hoisted on state flagpoles every so often.

California counts nearly thirty eight million inhabitants. The increase over a recent one-year period was about 1.18%. The state’s population is considered greater than that of many countries in the world today. Not only is CA home to many people, some of the largest cities in the U.S. are found in this state and include Los Angeles and San Francisco.

CA’s flag is hoisted on different flag poles throughout the Union. The flag has a white background, and features a red star in the upper left part of the design. A horizontal red band is found along the bottom part. The bear is placed on a patch of grass, in the middle. Also, the words California Republic are found right below the grass.

I personally love California climate. During the years I lived in Western Europe, my family visited the southern part of Spain a number of times. Spain’s climate very much reminds me of California’s climate. CA’s climate is said to vary from Mediterranean to subarctic, interestingly!

I have yet to fly the Californian flag from my personal flag pole. Law defines the use of the five different colors in the CA flag-design. For example, seal is used in some of the shading of the bear. “Irish Green” is used for the green colored patch of grass. The bear’s claws feature a little bit of white.

I am a flag pole enthusiast.
