PADI Openwater Dive Courses

PADI openwater dive courses are a great way to enjoy diving and to learn about how to go about it. They are also a great way to give yourself the skills necessary to dive in other locations and to make every holiday that you go on from now on more exciting and adventurous. Here we will look at what dive courses entail and why they are such a great investment.

First of all, diving courses of course teach you the basics of diving. This might sound fairly straightforward, but diving is in fact incredibly complicated and something that you can really struggle with if you don’t know precisely what you’re doing. In fact it can be very dangerous to dive without being fully instructed and that’s why most resorts won’t allow you to try unless they are sure you know what you are doing. For instance did you know what when diving you need to adjust the pressure in your wet suit? The reason for this is simple – there is a thin layer of air in between your body and the suit which acts as an insulator and which makes the wet suit able to do its job and keep you warm. This is fine when you’re walking around on dry land, but when you head under the surface and travel deeper the pressure increases greatly and this affects that layer of air to the point that it begins to squeeze your body. If you were not to release some pressure in your suit then you would find yourself getting squeezed tightly and finding it hard to breath. Likewise if you were a man you might find that a certain other part of your anatomy got squeezed which was even more uncomfortable. There are many other details in diving that you might not be aware of too, for instance coming up to resurface is something that is complicated and that can damage your stomach otherwise if you are not careful.

Diving then is something for which you need to do lessons before you are safe to try. At the same time though there are many other things you will learn from diving lessons which are interesting or fun. For instance you can learn to signal while diving and this is a form of sign language you can share with your friends to communicate silently. Likewise you will learn underwater maneuvers for moving around gracefully while you are wearing a scuba tank and flippers.

All this is very interesting and means that the diving lessons in themselves are fun and worthwhile. However the real reward comes when you take those new skills with you abroad to try diving in sunny countries with great scenery and wildlife. While you can enjoy a holiday normally, there is nothing quite like diving underwater and discovering what the sea has to offer for the sense of adventure it brings and the sense of accomplishment you feel. With PADI openwater dive courses your skills will be recognized the world over and you will be able to dive wherever you go.

The most well-known diving certificate is the PADI openwater dive course. This certificate lets you dive pretty much anywhere in the world, and is the most common all PADI courses.
