What is a Digital Video Recorder? (DVR)
A Digital Video Recorder (DVR) monitors and records the video output (or what is being captured) of the CCTV cameras in operation. The video is then recorded to a hard disk (HDD) integrated inside the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and they can be displayed on a monitor or TV screen. Some DVRs can also be connected to the internet, these are called Internet Protocol DVRs (IP). These allow you to monitor an area via a Local Area Network (LAN) or from a remote location over the internet, meaning you do not need to be in the same place as the DVR or CCTV System.
Tradexguru sells a range of DVRs with lots of great functions.
The DVR must be used in conjunction with a monitor and CCTV Cameras and can provide motion detection via pixel management of the video screen.
DVRs can handle typically:
4 Channels
8 Channels
16 Channels
32 Channels
Obviously the more channels you add the higher the price.
