Tag link Watch Review
It has been quite a while that Fortis, a reputable watch brand, plays limited editon art style watches. Representing a departure from currently dominating pragmatism, these artistic watches by Fortis are based on the brand’s recognized models made in different periods and look very attractive as well.
As the name implies, the tag link Art Edition Mattern Watch falls into the artistic watch category and is a brainchild between Fortis and artist Michael Mattern who is good at applying various geometric shapes and bold mechanical imagery in his work. According to Fortis, Michael Mattern was reponsible for case and dial design. As a combo of pop art and bauhaus, this new Fortis watch comes with a strong 1980s feel. To my eyes, this watch looks like a collaboration between Swatch and Max Bill. Not sure if only me have such feeling.
Sized at 40mm, the steel case receives fine satin brushed finishing, The partially skeletonized dial is colorfully fabulous with a nice mix of white, black, yellow, and blue. Due to the Swiss hermes birkin 2824 automatic that beats inside, the skeletonized part looks a bit pale. Luckily, Fortis smartly makes it up with bright color using. Colorful, artistic and busy though, the dial maintains very good legibility thanks to the proper arrangement and the sapphire crystal.
Completed the watch is either a steel bracelet or a rubber strap that available in several colors. And the replic sports a water resistance of 200 meters.
The Fortis Art Edition Mattern Watch will be made to 2012 pieces only with a retail price at $2,000. To sum up, this is a successful collaboration between Michael Mattern and Fortis.
