Celebrate Halloween the San Diego Way
Come October and the entire city of San Diego will come alive as the exciting Halloween season begins. Great number of parties and events are lined up throughout the Halloween season in San Diego. Here are two of the most popular events which you can look forward to during Halloween:
Halloween Family day at Balboa Park
Come to Balboa Park to enjoy various treats offered by the largest urban park during Halloween. The doors of over a dozen museums will be opened free for children of 17 years and under on October 31, 2010. Adults too don’t have to be disheartened as they too can receive discount on their pass if they buy a Stay-for-the-Day Pass which allows one adult an entry to five park museums for a nominal $35.
Right from 11am to 3pm, get ready to indulge in a variety of fun-loving activities and games at the Balboa Park. Lots of entertaining activities will take place in all the participating museums and cultural attractions such as spine-tingling tours, creepy crafts, scary storytelling and a wide range of spooky activities.
Take your kids to participate in the kiddie costume parade at the Natural History Museum, design a colorful koi fish mask at the Japanese Friendship Garden, try on military uniforms at the Veteran’s Museum, participate in the Halloween Art Hunt at the Mingei International Museum, build miniature altars or decorate skull masks or sugar skulls at the San Diego Museum of Man.
Make sure to take your kids to the San Diego History Center where they can learn the art of hat making, face painting and more. And do visit the San Diego Model Railroad Museum where you can build and decorate your own glow-in-the-dark steam engine and take part in the Halloween museum scavenger hunt.
Another major highlight of the Halloween Family day at Balboa Park is the doggie costume contest at the Spanish Village Art Center. The winner of the contest will receive doggie treats as well as a Spanish Village Gift Certificate.
On the Halloween Family day at Balboa Park, lots of fun and interesting gifts and treats will be distributed to children. So in case you are planning a San Diego family vacation during this time, make certain to take your kids to the Balboa Park. They will love to receive the free treats along with the pots of fun they are sure to have!
Halloween in Del Mar
Del Mar is another place where Halloween action will take place. It is a fun filled event especially popular among kids of all ages. Watch a magic show, learn some tricks of face painting, participate in costume contest or trick-or-treating, and enjoy the entertainment. Del Mar Village is gearing up to host this event on October 24, 2010.
Halloween draws a large number of tourists to San Diego. Book your rooms in a good San Diego lodging well in advance to avoid the last minute rush. For convenience, stay in a San Diego accommodation from where Balboa Park and Del Mar are located nearby so that you save time on commute. For budget travelers, there are plenty of affordable hotels in San Diego which offer tempting San Diego vacation deals and packages.
Halloween is all about ghost tours, wearing costumes, trick-or-treats and lots more. Bring your whole family to San Diego to make this annual holiday memorable.
