Among the things that add to the financial burden of people nowadays are prescription costs.  Good thing they can have access to prescription discounts through discount drug cards which are usually offered by private health care companies and those that specialize in discount cards for prescription drugs.

However necessary a discount drug card, it won’t help to just jump at the first offer that comes your way especially if it’s free.  Most free discount cards have limited offerings.  If you don’t weigh your options and just take in whatever is handed out to you, there’s a big possibility that you will end up paying more.

Before you nod to an offer, study first the discount card which you are about to have.  Is it honored in major pharmacies like WalMart, Bi-Lo, Publix, and Target among others?  How much discount does it offer for brand name medicines?  What about for generic medicines?  Does it offer discounts for all types of prescriptions or just for a limited set?

Be sure to read the form for an Rx discount card before filling it out because it might have underlying conditions which you will be required to satisfy before your discount card can be honored in pharmacies.

Research and you’ll find companies that offer more than just mere prescription discounts which are capable of providing relief for a limited period only.
