Choosing the Right Kind of Scotch tape

A scotch tape is an adhesive tape. It is also a registered trade mark of 3M, a conglomerate that produces over 50,000 products including laminates, adhesives, dental products, abrasives and medical products.

There are so many different kinds of tapes, some for general use and others for special projects and special requirements.

Choose the scotch tape that’s most suitable for the task at hand. If you need to keep confidential documents inside an envelope safe, use an anti tamper tape. This kind of tape has a strong adhesive that will, if removed, shred paper or at the very least leave a mark on the surface where it was applied.

For marking sections as you organize space, you will need a lane marking tape or a barrier tape. This is the kind of tape you would see on the floors of warehouses or factories; they are used to indicate designated areas for vehicles or trucks. If you don’t want your adhesive strips to be visible, choose a clear scotch tape. Clear tapes are almost completely transparent and they are great as quick fixes for items that have been torn.

For attaching light weight to medium weight items – like planners or posters – to the wall, a double sided tape should be used. As the name suggests, both sides of this tape have adhesive. This kind of tape is usually moisture resistant, which make it also the perfect kind of tape for arts and crafts.

If you need to protect surfaces when painting, use a masking tape. It’s a tape with a tough outer layer and adhesive.

For shielding books, presentations and folder covers from dirt and wear and tear, use a protective tape. It has a clear cover and adhesive backing. The cover is easy to remove to make repositioning the tape easier.

If you have pieces of paper that you might need to group together and then re tape several times, you will need a re usable tape. This tape can be removed and applied several times and still remain sticky, and therefore, useful. This kind of tape is also so clear and transparent that it won’t leave a mark during photocopying.

For repairing, protecting, reinforcing book spines, book covers and book edges, you will need a transparent tape called repair tape. Because it’s transparent, you will still be able to read and enjoy the pages. And you’ll definitely be enjoying those books for a long time because of the reinforcement and protection provided by the repair tape.

You might need strips tape if you are attaching panels, graphics and posters. This kind of tape is sold in small trips that can be divided into small rectangular or square strips. This tape has a powerful adhesive but it is also easy to apply and remove.

The typical adhesive tape or scotch tape, on the other hand, has many uses for the office, home or any academic environment. This kind of sticky tape comes in a variety of roll sizes and tape widths.
