Samsung SPH-M610 Review

The Samsung SPH M610 is a mid to high range clamshell phone that has plenty of great features and functions nicely. It comes in an ultra thin clamshell design with an internal antenna. I personally don’t like to either pull out the antenna or the antenna stubs that always stick into my side when the phone is in my pocket, so this design is perfect for me.

Some of the more useful features are the 2 mega pixel camera, a beautiful, high quality QVGA display screen and Stereo Bluetooth. The phone also has an MP3 player and a memory slot to swap Micro SD memory cards.

The thing that I really liked about the phone is its extremely high quality display screen. It is extremely bright and works great to review digital images. The digital camera on board is good enough to ditch your separate digital camera and it even allows for video recording.

The exterior of the phone has a rubberized grip and it is easy to hold, but since it is extremely thin, it can feel weird to people that are used to thicker phones. I like the fact that the external display screen is also easy to view, especially in bright situations. Battery life on the phone is actually quite good, while I don’t use the phone as often as others; I am by no means a light user. I usually charge my phone each night, but I could let it go for a couple of days with no problem.

Voice clarity and reception are great, I don’t have any problems receiving or making calls and the user interface on the phone is very easy to use. It only took about 5 minutes to get the hang of the menu system. The keypad was also easy to work with and I can text without looking at the keypad.

Pros

-Nicely designed and it has a lot of useful features
-Both display screens are high quality and can be viewed in bright settings
-Above average reception and call quality
-Very thin and light weight
-I like the added features including the 2 mega pixel camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth, etc
-Memory card slot a big plus

Cons

-Camera had no flash and only shoots video in 15 fps
-Not the most comfortable phone to hold in your hand for a long period of time (due to its ultra thin design)

Overall

The Samsung SPH-M610 is an excellent phone for the price. Even though the phone is a mid to high level phone in features, it is surprisingly affordable.
