Positive Displacement Pump

When you need to make an investment in a positive displacement pump, you want reliability. At Weir Minerals, you will get that and more! Weir Minerals are the first choice in mining and minerals equipment and service. They are specialists who deliver and support slurry equipment solutions including pumps, hydrocyclones, valves and wear resistant linings for global mining and mineral processing. They serve a number of industries including mining and mineral processing, mine dewatering, sand and gravel, chemical and fertilizers, power generation, pipeline transport, water and waste water, and general industry. They have a positive displacement pump to work for your needs, too.

The newest positive displacement pump to be offered at Weir Minerals is the GEHO ZPR crankshaft driven one or two cylinder double-acting piston pump. These pumps are used for applications with low to moderate abrasive slurries that are economically handled with the use of the crankshaft driven piston pumps. The GEHO ZPR positive displacement pump is operated at moderate stroke speeds to optimize wear part performance with capacities up to 145 m3/h and pressures up to 40bar.

The principal difference to the model TZP positive displacement pump is the double-action piston, while the TZP does not use a stuffing box. The capital expenditure of the GEHO ZPR is substantially lower than that of an equivalent size diaphragm pump and offsets the piston and liner parts usage when pumping mildly abrasive slurry and/or moderate pressure. The design of the positive displacement pump distinguishes itself from a mud pump or from a flushed-plunger pump in that is has a longer stroke as well as a lower stroke rate. It also utilizes genuine slurry valves and all power end components have an inherent long wear life, even when the speed varies over a wide range.

The positive displacement pump has a power end with cast frame that transmits energy by an external V-belt drive and an internal gear reducer to the pistons by means of a forged steel, direct driven crankshaft and cross heads with replaceable guides and connecting rods. Clamp couplings along with a special tool facilitate the removal of the piston and liner while ceramic lined and hard surfaced liners are available to further prolong the liner wear life. There is a piston guide ring that centres the cup seal in the liner. Spray flushing of the line bore further reduces friction and wear while the check valves are readily accessible for maintenance with oil-hydraulic release of the tapered cone valve seat.

You may also choose from the GEHO TZP or ZD positive displacement pump. The TZP differentiates from the ZPR with its single-acting piston and does not use a stuffing box. This is a positive displacement pump that is more appropriate for the handling of more abrasive slurry and higher pressure. The GEHO ZD is a twin cylinder, quadruple-acting crankshaft driven vacuum piston pump that is applied for well point dewatering, lowering the ground water table and enable excavations and constructions under dry conditions.
