How to Make Your Own Story Dress up Games
Dress up games are a fun way for your child to stretch their imaginative muscles. Making your own story dress up games can be a great way to let your kids express their creativity while having some costume fun. So if you and your little one love to dress up and tell tales, learn how you can incorporate both for a great time.
Instructions
1. Gather up clothes for a costume trunk. Make sure you get a variety of pieces so that your little one has a variety to choose from. You can use old clothes you don’t want anymore or head to some thrift stores and find cheap, fun little pieces to use.
2. Go to your local costume shop and buy small little pieces; think fake mustaches, crowns, costume jewelry or toy props. These will make for fun little additions for children to put with their costumes.
3. Decide what kind of story you want to tell. Is there a certain theme, maybe an upcoming holiday or a birthday party? Get into a group and decide what the theme will be together.
4. Begin the game by forming a big circle around the costume chest. Start by letting each child, one by one, pick an item from the costume chest for their character’s costume.
5. Go around a few more times, in order, letting children pick out pieces to make up their costume. Each time they pick out a piece, have them add some fun little tidbit to their character that they can share with the other children.
6. When your kids have finished their costumes, tell them to get into their character and enjoy a fun game of make-believe, where they get to use their imaginations based on the costumes they made themselves.
