Samsung SGH-X506 Review

The Samsung SGH X506 is a basic clamshell phone that offers lots of decent features in a small and lightweight form.

One of the things that I liked about the SGH -X506 is its small size and nicely design interface. I am not normally a heavy user of mobile phones, but do make calls each and every day. This phone is extremely easy to use, navigate and includes some very useful features.

The clamshell is surprisingly small, although it includes a stub antenna. The weight is less than 3 oz. The phone has two displays, one external and the other internal display screen. The external display is extremely convenient, but it is not color. I personally don’t mind, because it was very easy to read and includes all the info that I look for including Caller-ID, clock, battery power and signal.

The internal display screen is high quality and the keypad is very easy to use. The keys are very easy to press and I found it extremely simple to text without looking at the keypad.

The phone also comes with a speakerphone, although I don’t really use the speakerphone that often, it seemed decent enough. The phone does have some surprisingly special features such as EDGE data technology, Java and even support for Mobil TV. I don’t really need to watch TV on my phone, so I didn’t use this function.

The battery lasted extremely long and since I am not a heavy user I can go for days without recharging. I think it stated that talk time is about 5 hours and standby is a whopping 250 hours. While it has great features for a basic phone, it does not have special features such as Bluetooth capability, a digital camera or an MP3 player. However, it does play MP3 ringtones.

Pros

-Decent entry level clamshell phone
-Nicely designed, very light and fits easy in your pocket
-Phone functioned great and it has a few special features such as the speakerphone, and two display screens
-Great battery life:, 5 hours talk time and 250 hours standby
-Easy to use interface, learning curve is only 5 minutes

Cons

-While not an issue for me- no Bluetooth or Digital Camera
-Gray scale external display screen

Overall

If you are looking for a basic clamshell phone that has enough features and works well, the Samsung SGH X506 should be a perfect fit.
