How to deliver what the hiring managers are looking for?

There is a certain amount of denigration, apathy and morbidity to the words, ‘I wasn’t successful in the interview’. This impedes the chance to try successfully again. Hiring managers candidly admit that in order to be successful you need to ‘hit the bull’s eye’. What does that mean?

It simply means that aspirants need to give a professional touch to their interviews to hit the bull’s eye. And in order to give a professional touch getting coached for a job interview seems to be a sane solution. But if you have that innate sense of realising what went wrong in the previous interview, that you groom yourself to avoid the same in the next one. Is this possible with those whose heart rules the mind?

When asked as to why candidates are rejected or what could be the reasons for their rejection, hiring managers give the following responses:

  • Trade-offs such as salary disagreements or on-site presence requirements for a worker unwilling to do so.
  • Candidates having a ‘nervous’ laugh or not possessing a ‘sense of humour’
  • Not having enough technical skills required for the job.
  • Giving the right answers with sufficient details, instead of giving a rehearsed, canned response of buzzwords that don’t say anything.
  • Demonstrating lack of passion for the position or for learning about it, past or future. In short, eagerness, enthusiasm and excitement for the job applied needs to be displayed.
  • During a face-to-face interview the candidate should demonstrate proactive abilities to generate results desired by any organization.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance needed for an interview.

And many more of such insights.

Tricky situations like the one where salary constraints or the choosing of the option to work off-site may totally shake your rehearsed confidence. And if you aren’t aware that you have a nervous laugh, you are in a piquant situation. Similarly, giving a carefully crafted answer that covers all the points in a question that the interviewer has posed, should have that professional tinge.

To scale such ‘fine’ parameters, its best to take the guidance of an interview coach who can successfully groom you to showcase your professionalism that can clinch the interview.
