Every fifth driver puts wrong fuel in a diesel car

It may be funny to think about what will happen if you place petrol in a diesel car or vice versa.  However, what is not funny is how much damage that petrol in a diesel engine can cause, and once you see the repair bill the fact is that misfuelling will probably cease to be a laughing matter.  The astonishing truth is that every fifth driver will at some point place the wrong fuel into a diesel car due to distraction or simple absentmindedness.

However, there are devices on the market that can prevent even the most distracted driver from ever facing the ramifications of misfuelling.  These misfuelling prevention devices are designed to make it impossible to ever physically place the wrong fuel in your car again.

The logic behind them is simple given the fact that diesel and petrol nozzles are not the same.  Thus, by creating a cap that fits on almost all vehicles that are diesel that only allows a diesel pump to be inserted, you no longer have to worry about accidently grabbing a petrol pump instead.

Keep in mind that the costs of misfuelling continue to rise if the engine is started and include the cost of towing and draining fuel, and spending a few dollars on a safety cap will be well worth it.  Add in factors such as the fact that many garages will tell you that there will likely be long term damage down the road that you will need to face as a result of misfuelling, and a few dollars for a prevention device is almost a steal.
