Samsung SGH-T709 Review
The Samsung SGH T709 is a decent phone with some quality features. For instance, the T709 is the first UMA phone in North America. It is considered a mid ranged price phone, includes an MP3 player, stereo speakers, EDGE data technology, a 1+ mega pixel camera and speakerphone.
The Samsung T709 looks great, it is black and in a slider form. While I generally don’t like slider phones because the mechanism sometimes feels wobbly or flimsy, this phone performed well, opening and closing with ease. The user interface was easy to navigate and I got the hang of the menu structure in only a few minutes.
The display screen is high quality and easy to view even in brighter conditions, however, I still had problems viewing the phone in direct sunlight. The phone comes with wifi capability and EDGE data technology. This means that you can receive and send data super quick. The 1+ mega pixel camera was perfect for this phone, due to the fact that it performed far better than my previous phone’s camera. The camera also lets you capture video- which worked well.
The MP3 player on board played nice and the phone allows MP3 ringtones, which is a definite plus. It should be noted that it has the majority of regular phone features such as 1000 entry phone book and a speakerphone, however it does not include Bluetooth. If you like games, this phone came with a few of them and you can even download plenty of Java based games.
Voice clarity and reception is above average and I did not have any issues with dropped calls or encountering lots of interference. The phone was clear and the people that I was talking to were able to hear me loud and clear.

Country Direct numbers are used so that you may connect to an operator from a foreign telephone network, without incurring long distance charges. These numbers may be useful in blue boxing, as many countries still have older switching equipment in use.
