Design
The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite is beautifully designed in brushed die-cast steel. As well as looking very stylish and modern, the die-cast housing ensures the machine is highly durable and won’t corrode over time like a plastic juicer. The plug has a hole near its end that allows you to get your finger in to unplug it easily. This is a nice touch and is especially handy if you don’t keep the appliance plugged in all the time.
Fortunately, Breville have made the Juice Fountain Elite very easy to assemble so newbie’s to juicing won’t be scratching their heads. There are 5 main parts which need to be put together before you can start juicing. First the stainless container fits over the die-cast base, then the filter basket and the lid. Then finally just attach the pulp container and plunger onto the machine. The assembly process takes no longer than around 1 minute.
If you have a small kitchen, you may find the Juice Fountain Elite a bit too large and imposing on your counter, so you may want to check out Breville previous model – the Breville Ikon, which is a little smaller.
2 speeds
The two speed settings allow you to set the appropriate speed to achieve high yield from your produce. The high speed operates at 13,000 RPM and is suitable for hard produce such as carrots and apples. The low speed operates at 6,000 RPM and is ideal for softer produce.
Cleaning
Back in the day, juicers were a real chore to clean. The Juice Fountain Elite is rather easy to clean due to its stainless steel housing and well designed parts. You should clean the parts immediately after using the juicer to avoid the pulp drying onto the parts and becoming harder to clean off. As per recommended by Breville, you should line the pulp container with a small plastic bag to make cleanup even easier.
The supplied cleaning brush is useful for cleaning the filter basket and removing in grained pulp from the teeth. The parts can also be put in the top shelf of certain dishwashers. However, if you have a small dishwasher you’ll have to hand wash the parts instead.
Summary
The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite is a juicer which has so far lived up to its hype. The die cast housing, internal parts and high quality plastics have been designed for maximum durability, so this is a machine which should last you for years to come.
For juicing leafy veggies and wheatgrass, you won’t get a satisfactory juice yield so for juicer these produce you’d be better off investing in a masticating juicer or a dedicated wheatgrass juicer.
For overall speed and efficiency, there is no other juicer currently in the market which beats this appliance.
