Get Quality Long Term Care in North Carolina

Looking at the cost of care in North Carolina it would be so easy to think that no average American can afford it.  But the good news is that everybody can have access to quality care with a North Carolina long term care insurance (LTCI) policy.

Nursing homes and assisted living facilities are pricey in practically all U.S. states but home-based care is not.  As a matter of fact, it has been reported time and time again that the cost of in-home care has remained steady at $18 or $19 per hour.  However, in North Carolina people are paying an hourly rate of $22, on average, for a home health aide to assist their loved ones with their routine daily activities such as bathing, eating, dressing, toilet use, continence management, and transferring.

North Carolinians admit to being alarmed with the speedy rate increase of LTC facilities in their area so many of them have opted to take care of their loved ones and vice versa.  On the other hand, some residents of the state who are currently receiving in-home care said they have managed to save a chunk of their resources by hiring independent caregivers instead of contacting a home health care agency.

Independent caregivers charge less than $13 per hour and they can flawlessly render the job of a home health aide who is affiliated with an agency and charges between $22 and $23.  Home health aides or home care providers basically provide custodial care or personal care such as assistance with one’s activities of daily living (ADL).

When North Carolina Long Term Care Insurance Matters

Receiving care from an independent caregiver who charges a smaller hourly rate than a caregiver who is employed in a home health care agency is ideal.  This, however, can only go up to a certain extent because as a person gets older he becomes susceptible to different kinds of geriatric diseases.

You’re lucky if you are not genetically predisposed to any life-threatening illness as you can depend on an affordable independent carer quite longer than others whose family has a history in cancer, Alzheimer’s, and heart diseases among other debilitating health conditions.

However, when the time comes that you will require medical attention your independent caregiver cannot step in as most medical procedures can only be administered by a licensed physician or registered nurse.

You are not being discouraged, at all, from considering an independent caregiver in your LTC plan but you have to acknowledge the fact that this is only ideal at the onset of care.  If you end up requiring nursing home care someday think about the daily and yearly costs that you need to face and pay out-of-pocket.  No doubt the cost will rip you off your assets so you need to consider a plan that will support you financially should you wind up in an LTC facility.

North Carolina long term care insurance policies are designed for individuals who want to journey through old age with grace.  They are for those individuals who want to keep their heads high as they stand tall to remind other people that old age and infirmity are not licensed to wipe off one’s tinge of strength and independence.
