Childrens Nativity Costumes
Even though Halloween is primarily for the kids, children’s Halloween costumes unfortunately are not always designed with safety being the primary objective. Costumes are supposed to be colorful and fun, these are two of the traits found in the Scooby Doo costume line. Sometimes though, we may unknowingly overlook a few important qualities for a safe holiday experience.
Remember when we were young enough to trick or treat? Going from house to house as fast as possible was the main objective. How else were we going to fill our sacks? I’m sure most of our children think the same way today! This is where precautions must be taken to keep our kids free from harm.
Wondering what to do for your Childrens nativity costumes Just look in your closet! You probably have a bunch of items already lying around the house that you can use for costumes children will love to wear.
Here’s five easy and fun Halloween costumes children can wear, and that you can make out of things you either have in your closet, or from simple items you can borrow from friends or find inexpensively at most thrift stores.
For boys, start with a loose button-down shirt. You can cut the ends of the sleeves ragged. For girls, a peasant blouse will work. Add a vest overtop by cutting an old shirt. Boys can add loose pants, girls a skirt cut to be ragged at the bottom. Add boots, or use black shoes and make a boot look by wearing black leg warmers folded over at the top. Add a bandana on the head, and a piece of fabric around the waist for a belt. Find treat bags with a skull and crossbones on them, or make your own from a pillow case.
One of the costumes children get a huge kick out of! Just wear clothes that are a bit too small, with too short cuffs and ‘flood’ pants pulled up too high. Button the shirt all the way to the top. White socks and black shoes, plus a pocket protector, complete the look. Gel the hair into a geeky style, and add a few zits with makeup. Use a backpack for their treat bag.
So easy! For girls, a peasant blouse with layers of colourful skirts, sashes around their head and waist, and lots of jangly bracelets and necklaces. For boys, a white shirt unbuttoned at the top to show lots of gold necklaces, plus loose pants tucked into a pair of boots and a sash around the head and waist. Decorate a pillow case with glitter, sequins and scarves for a treat bag.
Costumes vary from one end of the color spectrum to the other. Consider adding reflective tape which will make your child much more visible at night. This should be done even if the clothing is a light. It is very inexpensive and only takes a couple of minutes to apply.
Another point to think about is whether the Halloween clothing comes with a mask. These can provide problems with your child’s sight and sound. The eye holes in many masks are small and there is very limited to almost no peripheral vision. This could become extremely dangerous at night. Masks that cover the head also cause vision problems and block some of the ability to hear. This should be a concern, especially in a busy neighborhood in the dark.
Have you ever considered face paint? This is a great way to let your child choose a” facial disguise” for any costume you buy. If this is a consideration, search online for some ideas.Simple skin coloration is easy of course. There are Ebooks available with creative designs and tutorials in you want to get fancy. This can be a fun experience for you and your children!
Scooby Doo costumes have been a popular Halloween and party choice for many decades. There are characters for the male and female choices, large and small.
