Inuyasha Cosplay-My Eternal Fever
The manga Inuyasha was published in North America by Viz Media with all of its 56 tankōbon volumes having already been released which follows Kagome Higurashi, a teenager from Tokyo, who is transported to the Sengoku period, where she meets the half demon, InuYasha. I am into the storyline before we hold the Inuyasha Cosplay actually. When a monster from that era tries to take the magical Jewel of Four Souls embodied in Kagome, she accidentally splits the Jewel into various shards, which are dispersed across Japan. Kagome and InuYasha start travelling to recover it, gaining allies and enemies throughout the journey. In contrast to her previous works, InuYasha is the first manga by Takahashi with a dark storyline, and thus used the setting of the Sengoku period to easily display the violent content.
I was just searching the forums for “Sesshomaru” info to arrange the Inuyasha Cosplay, and came back with lots of various posts and comments that made me cringe. I am seeing the same comments being said over and over again, by every single Cosplayer who has done Sesshomaru, which basically boils down to this: They walk through the door, get mobbed (or rather tackled the way some of them are putting it!) by fangirls, who within seconds ruin the entire costume.
YIKES!
Originally, I started worrying about my Inuyasha Cosplay costume getting damaged, because, this thing is setting me back a couple of thousand dollars, and I’d really hate for it to get ruined. It took me 3 months just to locate the antique silk I’m using to make the kosode. I spend much money on the costumes because I just wondering about that will be able to apply to all kinds of comic con for Inuyasha convention several times. By the way, if you really have limited budget, then get a reasonable outfit online. Schedule the date the costumes ordered and count the date it will be arrived. Many cosplayers do Kuroshitsuji Cosplay, girls are likely to portray Lolita in flattering Lolita Costumes, but Inuyasha is distinguished from most of them. That’s why I love it so much.
Later, I started to thinking, the one I’m making, is not only very expensive, but it’s more or less historically accurate: real silk, real embroidery, real fur, and…. real armor, with real metal spikes to make Inuyasha cosplay, which, I’m not to concern that a fan girl could damage my armor, but it occurred to me, that if what these posters are saying is true, than if a crazed fangirl made a mad dash to hug me, she really could end up with a punctured lung… literally.
That sudden thought worries me, and got me to wondering, has anyone here ever gotten hurt, from glomping someone or being glomped by someone? Or ever seen someone else get hurt?
