Teenage Issues: What Problems Afflict Them The Most
Adolescence is the onset towards becoming a young adult; it is a hormonal change that parents are proud of because children start growing up. This morphing has its positives and negatives as well which worries most of the parents around the world. A teenager’s age ranges between 13 yrs to 18 yrs which is the most precious time for them and parents as well. During this period they (teenagers) need to decide on a particular field of study which they will take on for the rest of their life, rather they will be earning their bread and butter through it.
Amidst the fog of youth, peer pressure, career choices and parental expectations teenagers tend to go haywire with their life. During this decisive time parents play a critical role in the formation of their child: whether they turn into responsible citizens or become rebellious extremists who forget humanity. It all starts with teenage problems which all of them face during their pre-adult period. There are hoards of problems faced by a teenager; we can surely glance at a few of them which are extremely important. First, their ‘body image’: maintaining their body and keeping themselves in shape in order to look the best among their peers is always on the top of their mind.
Any kind of disproportion in their body makes them feel awkward and they get perplexed as to what measures should they take. Teenagers tend to forget that developing bodies go through series hormonal transformations before they become an adult. The second most important factor is ‘search for an identity’. An identity crisis during this period is inevitable as they are influenced by the outer world. This influence is too great that any kind of advice always falls on deaf ears until a psychological understanding is built between parents and their teenage children. Third comes ‘teenage stress’ which is also a decisive factor, they need to prioritize studies, entertainment and keep up with peer pressure as well as parental expectations.
Amidst all these factors they tend to loose focus and become birdbrains who are good for nothing. Last but not the least comes ‘health’: any growing teenager needs sufficient nutrition to sustain the hardships faced during adolescence, whether it is education, peer pressure or keeping family values in mind and acting accordingly. ‘Relaxation and rest’ are also important for any teenager: after an exhausting day and gaining new experiences their mind and body need to get sufficient rest in order to restore their strength for other activities as well.
All these problems can be tackled skillfully if parents take care of a few things: nutrition, understanding, being truthful to each other (parents and teens) and communicating without any barriers. Juvenile youngsters need to refrain from giving into peer pressure, use more of their brain rather than act according to their heart’s desires and focus more on their career related issues. The management of these challenges, if done carefully, can yield good results which will be beneficial for both parents and teens.
