Sunglasses that are polarized
Among fishermen and boaters, the popularity of polarized sunglasses has increased. They need the glasses because they help in reducing glares of reflection by water. Other people who are using to being outdoors are also going for such glasses owing to advantages associated with polarized lenses. This includes jogger, bikers, skiers and golfers. The view becomes clearer when the glare is eliminated. As you drive, polarized lenses will be necessary for reducing glare that comes from surfaces that are flat and long like surface of the road or the car’s hood.
Polarized lenses work in certain ways. Light from surfaces is reflected and is polarized horizontally. The reflected light moves horizontally instead of moving in every direction as expected. The result is building of intensity of light called glare. A glare is dangerous at times and is annoying. Sunglasses (or solbriller as we Danes say) with polarized lenses comes with a filter that is special for blocking intense reflected light resulting to reduction of glare.
Visibility and comfort are increased by use of polarized lenses (brilleglas is the term in Denmark). However these lenses are not appropriate in some instances. For example in downhill skiing where you do not intend to block the light that reflects icy patches. The reflection helps in alerting skiers that they are nearing a hazard. Polarized sunglasses make the images produced by LCDs to be less visible. Such lenses also make GPS device and cell phone to be invisible. Pilots and boaters have experienced such problems as they try to view LCD displays found on instrument panels. This issue cannot be ignored because by using information that the panel contains, split-second decisions need to be made.
Generally, many activities and sports rip great benefits from use of polarized lenses. Currently, such lenses that have been combined with other features are available. This leads to outdoor experiences being enhanced. There are presbype that are into outdoor sports. They can go for polarized progressive or bifocal sunglasses. Polarized photo chromatic lenses are those that change to light inside from dark outside. Such lenses are appropriate for individuals that are light-sensitive and spend a significant amount of time indoors and outdoors. Polarized lenses are great in helping you have great time outdoor regardless of whether you will be jogging, water skiing, driving, boating, and mountain biking or skating.
While polarized glasses will reduce glare, they are known for reacting with tints which can lead to creation of blind spots. Photo chromic lenses are inappropriate for warmer conditions. In colder conditions, they are darker compared to when it is warm. Do not use them while driving. This is because in presence of UV rays, they become darker yet such rays are usually blocked by windscreens of cars. Polarized lenses are a good option compared to cosmetic ones that cause eye damage.
When shopping for sunglasses, identify the ones that suit the shape of your face. The fit needs to be good to prevent them from falling off the face. As you play sports, due to poor fit, they may fly off by accident.
