Agra remained a capital to the Western-North border province of British Raj until the first struggle of Indian Independence that took place in the year 1857. Agra flourished well during the Mughal period and it is evident from the architectural heritage of the city. The prime attraction of Agra Tourism is the Taj Mahal, which was constructed in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaj Mahal. Situated on the banks of River Yamuna, Agra experiences a hot and dry climate that borders on humid subtropical climate. The most suitable time to visit Agra is from November to March when the weather is warm and pleasant.
Agra, since is located on the central rail line between Delhi and Mumbai and Delhi and Chennai, it can be easily accessed from all the major towns in India. The National Highways (NH2, NH3 and NH11) also connects Agra to all major cities of India.
