Why take a road trip?
The state of the roads and driving conditions in most parts of our country are pathetic. We are always forced to sit through endless amounts of traffic, and all we can do is wait at the signal and count the minutes till it turns green again. Even the state of our roads is terrible; year round we see wide roads being turned into narrow single lane streets due to some or the other construction. However, we never see any outcome of this construction. After waiting for months on end for the construction to finish, the roads retain their smooth flat shape for barely anytime. As the monsoons come in, every road, whether old or new get flooded with potholes and literally flooded as well. It makes us wonder what the point of having these endless road constructions is.
Driving in the city at any point is stressful, and the only time one can thoroughly enjoy the experience of driving is if you go out of town or in other words take a road trip. A road trip is one experience where you enjoy just sitting behind the wheel and watching the countryside pass by, the thrill of tapping the accelerator and feeling the g-force push you back into your seat is one which very few things can compare to. Most may complain that a road trip wastes too much time getting to your destination, however, a road trip makes for a small holiday before your planned holiday even begins. It makes for memories and experiences that no flight, bus or even train journey can compete with. Though flights and trains are more convenient but if you have time on your side then road trips are the way to go. You will not relate to what I’m saying till you have taken a road trip yourself. Road trips make for the ideal family vacation, the entire family being together in one car driving to a vacation destination makes for a lot of bonding and memories which would last an entire lifetime.
One very important factor to be kept in mind before taking a road trip is which car you’re going to be taking, if you have an option that is. Take your small little hatchback and your road trip could end up being an unpleasant experience, as the only thing everyone will be talking about would be how uncomfortable they are and how much longer it’s going to take to reach the destination. An ideal car for a road trip would ideally be an SUV, that’s if you’re going to be off-roading and driving through tuff terrain. You need a car which would give everyone sitting in the car a sense of comfort and calm as opposed to being cramped and uncomfortable. My ideal choice for a road trip would be a car like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara or the Toyota Fortuner. Which car do you think would make for the best family car that could be taken for a road trip?
Wagon R is by far the best family car when you are going out driving in the busy and unsafe roads of the city.
