Exorbitant prices for London Hotel Family Rooms
The prices being charged exorbitantly for hotel rooms in London during the Games have been a cause of great concern and outrage. Especially disability charity MENCAP and the shadow minister for London and also the Olympics Tessa Jowell seek the Government to handle the hotels extorting guests with higher prices.
As 120,000 more London hotel family rooms are in the offing has been meant to ease the situation and resultant high prices, however the studies from rental accommodation shows that this is far from the truth. Cheap accommodation for visitors to London is still not sufficient.
London’s providers of alternative holiday apartments on the eve of the Olympics, studied prices and availability at 50 hotels before and after the rooms will be opened for public. The studies show that around 17 hotels at least have not yet changed their prices except for four which has reduced the prices as such. The two hotels have in fact double the number of the rooms. Rest of these 23 hotels has no availability in both the cases.
During the process, these games have two bedroom apartments in Bloomsbury. This apartment can accommodate at least four or more and costs 199 pounds each bedroom each night during 2012 London.
A total number of budget London hotel family rooms have no doubt increased recently with Travelodge heading the way with 44 hotels and 6,592 rooms and further ten hotels is also being built thereby bring the total to 7,705 London hotel family rooms. Rates as anticipated would start from 43 pounds per night which can also include little larger rooms that could sleep four people. However this provision will be for limited hotels while others has been rated on an average of 110 pounds.
One of the newest hotels equipped with188 rooms is available at Sratford which is just a short walk from the Olympics venue. However, others are making plans to open the hotels in June around the ExCel center.
Meanwhile, to add to it Premier is in the midst of vast expansion during London. It has plans to open 20 more new hotels during the next two years and has just finished constructing a property at Stratford crossing Olympic Park which is just in close proximity to Westfield shopping centre. The current situation demands that the company has 6,127 rooms located in London with a total of 150,000 rooms in 109 hotels which can be available within a 35 miles radius of Olympic venue. The rates of the room start from 159 pounds during the Olympics.
Obviously, all efforts are being made from Government side as well as private concerns to make the tourists stay fantastic. Yet there is still to be seen how this sporting grandeur will ensure tourists of grandeur experience and of course within their budgetary experience.
