Loris Azzaro was born in 1933 in Italian a family that lived in Tunisia.
Loris Azzaro in 1963 set off to conquer the fashion world in Paris. In 1965, a 32-year-old Loris founded his own fashion house. Many stars of the show-business loved his dresses.
By 1968 his business was a huge success. He was well known for making glamorous party dresses for the elite of French society. Often his creations featured ornate beading and daring cut outs. He was also known to use brightly colored chains woven onto shirts to make intricate chainmail dresses and tops. Over the course of his long career he dressed numerous celebrities including Dalida, Sophia Loren, Raquel Welch, Marisa Berenson, Claudia Cardinale, Isabelle Adjani, Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman.
In 1975 Azzaro introduced his first fragrance for men “Azzaro Couture Pour Homme”, which soon became a classical. The first notes of this fragrance are: fresh lavender and geranium, and then smoothly sweet scents of patchouli and exciting sandalwood, vetiver and cardamom.
In 1992, the fashion house Azzaro began producing a line of menswear. Typically, designers work on clothes first, and then complete it with perfumes. Loris make it vice versa. Suits for men was the same elegant and romantic, as the scents of his perfumes. In 1996, was released “Chrome” perfume, which is an exciting bunch of trees and ocean. In 1990s, the post of creative director of Fashion House Azzaro took his daughter Beatrice. Loris Azzaro died in 2003 at the age of 70 years in Paris. In 2004, the head of the fashion house Azzaro became the 31-year-old Vanessa Styuvord.
